I think mine hurt for a good 3 months after surgery and now its only if im at the movie theater or a long car ride that it hurts.

If it hurts toouch get a ****yx pillow. Helps tremendously!

I have tons of tailbone pain as well, so I can relate.  - Airplane rides, car rides, watching TV are cruel to me.  I do OK at the computer, because I typically lean forward a little bit.

I use the Tush Cush, which helps many people.  It helps me a little - and every little bit helps.

DH loves that I can no longer use a recliner (he gets it all the time now), and my trainer laments that I have real difficulties doing sit ups, particularly on a balance ball.
