Post RNY Hypoglycemia
I've had several low blood sugar episodes but I don't think it was RH. For me I think it was just going too long between eating. It seems whenever I eat anything, high in carbs, protein or whatever, my blood sugar shoots up high, like 250 or more and then drops pretty fast if I don't eat every 2 or 3 hours. As long as I eat regularly I am fine. As far as gaining weight it helps me to eat a lot of protein and healthy fats. I eat a lot of healthy carbs, too, like fruits and vegetables but no refined carbs or processed carbs, and my weight has been stable for a while now.

My RH was really causing me a lot of problems. I switched up what i was eating to more fat and protein forward meals and my endocrinologist has said he doesn't care about sugar, he wants my total carb load for any one meal (including fiber) to be 25 g or less.
For the most part, I haven't had much issue with that.
But I have to say, I am having trouble keeping the weight OFF, which is just as difficult with RH as is gaining.... Once you find a food schedlue that keeps away the RH andd makes you forget you have it, either it isn't good enough for your needds but you're frightened to add calories (your situation) or it's just a bit too good for your needs, but you're frightened to cut back (my situation) ... and when I tried to exercise to use the extra calories up, I had a low blood sugar 48 hours (took that long to stabilize it again)
good luck!
