Esophageal Stent...
I had RNY on December 5th,2011. Had issues from day 1. On March 8th I had a EGD which showed a very bad stricture. I had been on full liquids almost that whole time. I then went in for a stent placement on March 11th. Had severe reaction upon waking up and threw up for 9 hours continously. I went home from hospital after 3 days. was on full liquids and had to sleep in a recliner because i was not allowed to sleep flat, they said I could assperate and die. I went in to have the stent removed on March 19th. Upon waking from the surgery I was again vomiting for hours. Then they told me that the stent had migrated. Went to CT right away so they could try to find it. Found it in my small bowel. Again readdmited to the hospital for a week, in hospital i was allowed no food or drink. I was on IV fluids and antibiotics. They were hoping that perhaps the stent would continue to move down, but it decided it was quite comfortable in my small bowel. they took me back into surgery and removed the stent. I was on liquids for a week and then able to progress to soft foods. I developed a really bad infection in the incision the stent was removed from and had to have it packed for 2 weeks by a home health nurse. I am happy to report now that I am well and on my way to becoming more "normal". Please feel free to message me if you want to talk more about my experience or yours. Stay strong this too shall pass. I am just over 6 months out have lost 122#s and can finally say now it was worth it. I still have about 40 more pounds to lose but already feel tons better.
