It has taken me two years to lose the required 30 lbs for surgery (I am now down 50) I had to have some of my testing updated....but as of today I was told my surgery could be scheduled as early as August/September.

I am getting scared....I have never had any type of surgery....or never been put to sleep.

Any one else in the same bost as me?

I was in the same boat (regarding never having surgery and never being under). I was freaked out up until they put me out on the operating table. I even remember crying that I wanted to do this so bad but was so freaked out. Next thing I knew I was awake and in the recovery room. I am now 7 months out and very happy with my decision thus far.

I had never had a surgery in my adult life before my RNY. I had a few surgeries by the time I was 2, but *****members when they were that young? LOL

I did have concerns about the anesthesia and feared waking up in the middle of my surgery, etc, but turns out there was no reason for me to worry. In the weeks and days leading up to my surgery I was met with a complete sense of calm and I was cool as a cucumber even getting prepped for surgery the day of. I knew I had made the best decision for my life and my health.

I remember being wheeled back to the OR and getting on the operating table and that's it. I don't remember the anesthesiologist even giving me the sedative before the anesthesia LOL. I remember telling the nurses in the recovery room that I felt sick and that I hurt, but I couldn't even tell you what the room looked like. I was pretty much in and out the entire day. Didn't even get up to walk til about 10pm because I was so out of it. LOL

I'm now 8.5 months out and couldn't be happier with my decision. Everything has gone perfectly and I've had absolutely no issues. :)

Best of luck to you on your journey!
