Soy milk is the devil...

So I recently switched to soy milk instead of using regular skim milk. It doesn't agree with me AT ALL. I'm really bummed. I've never had a problem before, but I wasn't drinking it consistently before the last few days. I guess I'll need to try hemp milk next.

I do have chewable Lactaid tabs, so I guess I'll have to go back to skim milk temporarily.

Ugh... It's been a rough day and a half.

I tried almond milk before, but wasn't super-jazzed about it. I'll have to try the Almond Breeze. Thanks!

When I decided to learn how to make quiche, the recipe called for some milk. Tried it, and still had issues.

Then I tried evaporated canned milk.... nope, didn't work for me

So then I decided to use a not-really-milk and went to that section of the store and was confronted by a plethora of possibilities. I chose the Almond Breeze almost at random...and fell in love!!! Nothing else comes close!

You're lactose intolerant?   Just thought I'd mention that many people with lactose intolerance tolerate raw milk very well.  I started buying raw milk about seven or eight months ago and my partner, who got the worst gas ever when he drank pasteurized milk, has no trouble with it.  My house smells so much better!  It's because milk naturally contains lactase, the enzyme we need to digest lactose.  That's what's in Lactaid, lactase.  Pasteurizing milk destroys the lactase so it's harder to digest the lactose in it.

Yes, I am. Besides not being a huge milk drinker anyway, the lactose intolerance really puts a crimp in my style. I wasn't having much trouble with organic milk at first, then it creeps up after a few days.

I'll have to check out the raw milk as well. I know there are a few dairies/farms in western MA that sell it. Thanks!

One day I wanna have a cow.

Hubby says, "but you're lactose intolerant"

to which I say... "Maybe I can learn how to make cheese?"

Be great if my fictional future dairy "pet" could make milk I could drink.

I want goats.  Two of them.  One of the miniature varieties.

Your pet cow probably would make milk  you could drink.

I want goats too.

Hubby says if we wanted them for meat, we'd probably quickly go vegetarian. He's probably right, though we've dropped a lot of meat out of our diet.

If I did not live in a mobile home park with an itty bitty yard, I would have two goats and a few chickens.
