Are the old-timers (vets) on OH Condescending???
To Lithia and all of my fellow-vets who have posted so thoughtfully and intelligently on this thread - THANK YOU. You have all expressed in so many ways what I suspect most of us "old timers" feel from time to time. This, in my not-so-humble opinion, is possibly the best thread with respect to vets that I have ever read.
I am humbled by your wisdom and proud to be able to contribute my own.
Again, thank you.
Karen
P.S. I would very much like to link this post to my provincial site here on OH. This thread needs to be read. And then read again. Okay with you?

I wouldn't be here if it was just a handful of newbies, and I wouldn't be here if it was a handful of vets. I come here because it's a community that gives me back what I put into it.
Sometimes, though, I feel like it's important to address this issue, even if it hurts feelings or steps on toes. I can't change who I am..

No one wants to give up on anyone. But I have to say, once you've had the hand you offered to help someone bitten a couple of times, you start to put things into a little different perspective.

I know I don't expect everyone to always love me or agree with me. So that's OK. But it would be possible for people to disagree without being nasty about it or name calling. And many people do disagree politely. We agree to disagree. Because that's OK. We don't all have to think the same about everything.
We're not tired of the newbies. I actually get a lot of support from some newbies about various things.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
But my stepson is leaving tomorrow, and the new school year is fast approaching, and I might only be around every other day from here on (if I have to wait until the end of the month to get the ablation)... or I might be around more now if I get the ablation thursday or friday.

You and so many other are so right...
some of us when we see a train wreck - or see potential health problem - we want to help and warn the person - or people about that.
Some will be grateful - others - not so much...
One day I step away fro the boards..
I do try to stay away more, but I do get involved if I think my own personal experience may help.
If I can only help one person - it is worth the trouble.
Some people from here (you included) helped me so much... providing answers or clues or even questions I need to ask my doc.
Before the vets - I never questioned my doc about my blood work - if he said "they are good" I believed. Not anymore. I need to see my numbers. Not only the values - but the trend - see how they change/
That and so many things. Vets - and so many other people - you do not have to be a vet - can provide help and information.
Thanks LL
