It seems that everything that I eat makes my pouch angry.  If I eat anything really solid it angers my pouch.  The throw up process takes forever...about 15-30 minutes with that ick feeling and another hour  of throwing up.  I feel wiped out after usually i have to lay down and rest/nap for at least 2 hours.  I keep trying just to work thru it I don't like having that feeling of I must take a nap or rest.  I can eat something one day and it goes down just fine and the next not so good.  I just want to stay on soft mushy foods.

Gee, I just gag myself and it is over in 2 minutes. Not a big deal for me. Used to do it a lot on booze so I am a pro. I don't like the pain and sickness so I just toss it up...and go on with life.

Same with me - I've been puking for the last 8 years - eat too much, wrong thing, too quick, something stuck - up it comes,  no heaving, no mess no fuss ...

I think because the stomach is smaller, the physical mechanism of vomiting is different for some.  I, too, can count on one hand the number of times I've vomited in the 9 years since my bypass, and they were due to food poisoning - can actually tell you what (and where) I ate each time.  Post GB, when I get nauseated it's because of dumping, know that I'm not going to throw up, and it passes.  When I'm actually going to vomit, I get a pressure-pain feeling in my upper stomach / lower chest area, no nausea.  Since it's been from food poisoning, it's not a vomit once and feel better situation; it continues until my entire digestive tract is emptied.  It's a miserable feeling.

I threw up all the time with the band and only had  2 fills making it less than half full.  I've been thankful not to experience this with RNY.  I do feel icky after eating once in awhile but it is further in the digestive system.  My pouch doesn't seem to be bothered by much.  I do take Nexium.

I probably vomited 2wice a week the first 1-2 months as I introduced new foods into my pouch. It was ALWAYS self initiated though..which was hard since I dont have tonsils. Now a days the only way I can vomit is if i do it myself and catch it as its stuck in my throat ...b/c once it gets to my pouch for some reason I cant make myself vomit for the life of me.   So i'm stuck with that icky feeling fora  long time.

I have found the only way for me to actually throw up, (get the food contents out of my pouch) is to lay down on my side and have a bowl ready to catch the contents. Thankfully I have only done it twice when something got stuck.

While I haven't thrown up yet post-op, I did find myself being thankful for the smallness of my pouch yesterday as I waited in line at the amusement park while the workers cleaned up a bunch of vomit on one of the rides. I'm so glad to know that if I do throw up on a ride, at least it won't be much--and won't hit my fellow riders, lol!
