Think Thin protein bars

Have any of you tried them?  My first experience with dumping after 7 months. I happened to be at a support group meeting last night, and had not eaten since lunch.  Brought a bar with me and ate it before the meeting.  Thank goodness the nurses that run the meeting were there to tell me what was happening.  I showed them the wrapper and low and behold Sugar alcohol 14.  Sugar 0.  Just thought I would let the newbies know, to watch out for the sugar alcohols.  I thought I was dying, sweats, dizzy, stomach ache etc.  No vomitting. Just thought I would share.

Well  that sucks. I love these bars because they're gluten free and come in so many varieties. The nut ones are my favorite. I've never had a problem with them and I hope I never do. I'm sorry you had this experience!

I was having like one Pure Protein bar a day between 12 and 14 months out, then started dumping on them so gave up protein bars all together. I recently tried them again (2 1/2+ years out) because sometimes a shake just isn't convienient, and have no problems. I use both the Pure Protein and Think Thin, though I like Think Thin better. So you may want to wait a few months or a year or so and try again.

The weird part is, I have eaten one before and had no ill affects, but I have read on this board that that really does not mean anything.

It really doesn't. You'll have what I like to call "Picky Pouch Days" when something you normally tolerate will make you feel like crap. I have them all the time. Most recently I was eating a cereal that I eat on a regular basis for breakfast (and PLEASE no one jump in and tell me how I shouldn't have cereal blah blah blah... I'm pregnant and baby and I both need the carbs) and for some reason or another it made me dump. I have no idea why as I had tolerated it many times before then and have tolerated it since. Just weird.

Not everyone is sensitive to the sugar alcohols, either, so really it's a matter of trying things for yourself to see if your body agrees with them or not.
