I have an appointment for my 2nd visit with my surgeon's office. They say it will last from 8-12. Can anyone who has had this type of appointment give me any idea of what to expect? this is such a long appointment, I cannot begin to imagine he specifics. I was told seveal general things but I still cannot fathom a 4 hour visit.

If Dr. Barker was your surgeon, I would LOVE to have more specific details.

Thanks!

he wasn't my surgeon but my surgeon had a nutritionist come talk to us, he diagrammed exactly what he would be doing to us, and we met one on one. Call and ask. We had a 2-3 hour group session then a one on one session. It was very informative. We got our notebook with the detailed vitamin food post op requirements.

I didn't have your doctor either but for us we had a nutrional meeting that lasted that long just prior to surgery for me.

Hi!
Dr. Barker was my surgeon and I had the same thoughts as you about the 4 hour meeting.
Dr. Thompson went over the "things that could happen" list, took questions from the audience and answered any questions asked thoroughly.

Then, Dr. Barker spoke for a short time.  He went over what to expect the day of surgery, recovery, and questions about the surgery.

At the end of the meeting, Reva (the scheduler) spoke with those who did not have a scheduled surgery date and arranged scheduling.

Hope this helps; BTW it wasn't really four hours, more like two.  A lot depends on the number of people asking questions.

Thank you! I don't have my date yet. They said I will get my date at some point during this process. It is a relief that it will most likely not be 4 full hours. I have already had so many Dr. appointments that I hate missing so much work. I am lucky that I have an amazing boss. But, I still feel guilty, nonetheless.

Any suggestions on anything that I should ask about? Things that afterward you wish that you would have thought of during that session?

I wished I'd had clear clarification on what to eat after surgery (the first week). The paperwork wasn't clear if I could drink protein drinks or only clear broths.

Dr Hodges actually did my surgery. She's great. I was so nauseated the evening I came home, I finally called the service. She returned my call immediately, prescribed two additional nausea meds and I was feeling great within a few hours.

Any questions I can answer, let me know. Today is my three weeks surgery day.

Vicki

Oh, are you having the sleeve or Rny?
