Hi OH family I had surgery this week, on 8/6/12 to be exact...i was totally shocked that i have been through surgery when i woke up in the recovery room...i don't remember being wheeled in the operating room, but i had the bandages and my hubby words to prove it....besides the contrast they give you the next day, i have been truly happy, the contrasts they give you the next to see if you have any leaks made me totally nauseated and i felt horrible from 830am until 5pm that day, until they gave me medication for nausea, but the key to ease the pain is to get up and move move move, i was released early wednesday morning and have been doing great, when i get any pain, i get up and go walk the dog....and it helps tremendously, appetite, i don't have any so i follow the doctors meal plan and eat and drink close to schedule as i can, but i still do everything that i was before for my family, preparing meals, getting the kids ready for daycare, and then i take off to work...i just got say i love it and i can't wait until the weight drops and i can go shop til i drop for me and not going and walking around the store, buying things for everyone else, i hope your recovery gets better....just remember to move, move, move and sip, sip, sip

I had the same problem with the contrast for the leak test. I told the technicians to get me a bucket, or they'd be cleaning up a mess on the floor. My surgeon does a leak test while in surgery, then does the contrast test the following morning.

That contrast was teh WORST omg!!! It tasted like poison. It was the worst part of surgery peroid.
I thought it would be like that crappy orange stuff. OMG it was sooooooooo much worse.
I hope I NEVER have to do that again.

I was fortunate that my surgeon has a technique during surgery to make sure there are no leaks without having to go through what all of you had to do.  Also no staples, no stitches, just glue and no tube to come home with.  So healing was a breeze for me.  I have heard that my surgeon is one of the best here in California so I can't help but brag on him.  But I know you all thank your doctors for what they have done for you too!  Jane

Mine is the same way... He monitors the drain fluid for something that indicates a leak (in addition to a test during surgery) and glues you up!  I have heard so much bad stuff about the contrast drink...I am SO happy I avoided that!!
