I am having the same problems. I had to take 2 and half times the dosage last week to get it moving. It was good for a few days and now today I was back constipated to the point of hurting and bleeding (tmi sorry)

I took the 4 T and nothing. blocked. I went to walgreens and got some dulcolax suppositories and within an hour cleared out!

I think I'll go that route next time and skip the MOM it doesn't seem to do the trick for me.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm sure for me it's the lack of fiber in my doc's plan at this point.

Mirolax really helps ladies... I use the Walmart brand. Mix it in water or juice or protein drink. It has no flavor and works great.

Did you have a bowel prep before surgery?  Between that and the anesthesia it isn't uncommon to be constipated.  The anesthesia slows everything down and it takes a while for it to get moving again.  That is why they want you to at least pass gas before they release you from the hospital.  I had a hernia repair last Feb. and that was the worse part, the constipation for a while afterwards.  Plus, if you had a bowel prep and you have been on liquids there just may not be that much in there.  Milk of Magnesia helped, so did Miralax but ultimately the only real relief I got was with enemas and suppositories.
Talk to your doctor about a prescription for Miralax and stool softeners.  Taking those regularly will help until you are able to get in enough fiber to get things going.

Also some painkillers will make you constipate- I went a week and a half after my last surgery before I went, I wasn't in pain though, good luck hope it sorts soon.

Constipation can be an issue for many post ops.  My surgeon said each patient "needs to find their own recipe" to deal with this issue. You may have to increase your hydration, eat some prunes daily, take Mirilax, take stool softeners (like generic Colace) daily, change diet around, etc.  Not every patient is identical, so there is no single cure for this issue. I take 2 stool softeners AM and 2 PM which works for me.  DAVE

Please always remember that you need to drink a full8oz glass of water with milk of mag. Doctors don't tell you this but it is how the med works. Brings fluid to bowel. If you use it Hydrate,Hydrate. If you are dehydrated it doesn't work.
