Daily Atheist Quote
Yes, but you might notice that bible quote post includes a reflection to contextualize it. So I understand what the person who posted it THINKS it means.
Sometimes those daily posts do, sometimes they don't. When they don't and I read them I ask this very same question.
Words don't mean anything by themselves. Which is what makes them such powerful weapons. They are empty vessels into which you can pour either fruitful or toxic meaning. Insofar as I wish to be at least understood (not necessarily agreed with) I try to ask questions about something before forming an opinion.
That was my sole intent. To get more information before forming an opinion (in my mind) one way or another about this quote.
Maybe I think too much.

Ok, I'm going to try to put into words something that is very ingrained in me.
To ME (I do not speak for others) my DAILY relationship with God is as real as my relationship with you and anyone else on this board. I post quotes all the time (sometimes some that were religiously based) that reflect my thoughts on relationships with others. That's how I look at that post. It gives me a nuggeet to reflect on my relationship with God and how I can use that relationship to help spur me toward better mental, emotional and, yes, spiritual well-being.
I don't sermonize. I DO preach sometimes (but for the sake of all that get offended I don't put God in my preachy posts even though EVERYTHING with me begins and ends with God). I just talk about relationships as i see them.
So for me and many others who have had the guts to speak up about it, that post is helpful to our mental state AND our health.
I can't explain it any better than that. Insofar as it helps ME, I like the post. If it's inappropriate, report him. If enough people do that they will likely remove him. If there was no daily bible quote the world would still turn.
I do give Kenny credit though. He's very clear about what the post is about so you can avoid it if it's not your thing. And there is always the proverbial "block button."

Noooooo...for me it does. I believe myself to be an instrument of God. And MOST of the inspiration I get TO preach comes from biblical teachings. Most of my personality and approach to dealing with people comes DIRECTLY from the bible. So for me leaving God OUT of it seems very blasphemous.
But when I have to defend that choice to St. Peter I will argue that I promoted love. I believe rthere are many ways to communicate but few ways to be HEARD. I choose the channels where I think i will be heard. Which of course, in Christian theology IS blasphemy...so I'm prolly going to hell anyway. Might as well have fun while I'm here! (wink)
:)
Thank you for provoking thought today, Beth. The old muscle in my head needed a workout.

And you are the Queen ma'love.
In the end it all boils down to Olympia Dukakis' famous words from Steele Magnolias:
"You know I love you more'n my luggage!"

Why not just block him, so you won't see them? Why start a post about someone else's
post that you know will most likely cause controversy? I think "live and let live". Some
people find inspiration in Bible verses....some people don't. Those who don' have the
option to block. It's as simple as the click of a mouse....
