Do our periods get any better or lighter? Mine seems to of gotten much heavier & painful since surgery. Since RNY I've had to switch from Super tampons to Super Plus tampons & go through 30-40 tampons during that one week every month. It's like less than 2 hours & I have to change it sometimes less than that. It's really becoming a pain. Grrr  . Please tell me it gets better. I'm about ready to perform a hysterectomy on myself. Just take it all out for the love of God. Lol

Is this what I have to look forward to?  Ugh.

I have not had my surgery yet but maybe this is a birth control issue.  It could be time for a change.  I got warned about this at my surgeons office and the "fix" could be a change in your hormone based birth control.

I had this problem when I was first out of surgery. I had Polycystic ovaries and rarely had a period when I was heavy. As my body lost weight, I got PMS like crazy and my periods were very heavy for a time. I think my hormones went kinda out of whack. Now, I'm very regular and the periods are heavy, but bearable. I remember from about month three and lasting about six months it was pretty bad.

I was going to write this identical post.  Never really had periods preop because of PCOS and had horrible menses until about month six or seven.  Now they are heavy, but bearable.

I have no advice re: your post op period problem, but as far as the 40+ tampons, you should look into the Diva Cup. I've used it for about a year and it's great. It holds alot. And once you confront the "ick" factor it is super easy and quite economical. If you can use a tampon you can use the diva cup.

I definitely might have to check into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is my second period and it's pretty horrible I sorta stopped taking my bc pills about a month ago but I restarted them so hopefully things will get better becauses as of now I'm like worried about iron levels and such.

As for the diva cups they are amazing and certainly worth it if you want to save a little ca****'s a good investment, very convenient, and good for the environment. Every female should look into them.
