Oh dear, having my first negative thing post-op.  I've been burping/vomiting up foam for about 45 min. now.  I've been googling it but can't seem to find a concrete reason.  Some posts say it's because I haven't eaten in a while (which I hadn't) some say because to fast

Anyone out there had this and know the culprit / cure?

For me it was what I ate. I tried ground beef and it was on!!! Last for about 30 - 45 minutes. I never actually threw up but the foamies were playing hell in the back of my throat. Happened again one other time when I tried filet mignon, again lasting about 45 minutes. I DO NOT try any type of beef anymore.

I feel your pain!!

I get the foamies if I eat too fast or too much. I always end up vomiting once I get it and then it's done and out of the way... Until I do it again.  I try not to though as it's just not pleasant!!

It's your body's response to irritating your pouch!   Just keep spitting it out - it will stop, maybe even presenting you with the offending piece of food!

For me, it's usually if I've eaten just one piece too many, something too big for the stoma, food that's too dry, buffet food or reheated food!

It will pass ...

Thanks so much everyone.  It lasted about 2 - 3 hours.  I got a small cup of mint tea to stay down, waited an hour, sssslllllloooooowwwwwllllllyyyyy ate a Babybel light, waited an hour and then had another cup of mint tea.

So far it's a success and so now I'm off to bed.

I had surgery on Aug 17th and, so far, my biggest challenge has been to remember that.  I had no pain, not even in the hospital.  This has been a really good learning experience for me.
