They said no protein shakes?  That seems so weird, seems like everyone is on protein shakes at first.  What are they telling you to have?

Not all surgeons require or want their patients on protein shakes.

Never had a protein shake or bar - it's entirely possible to do this without supplementation - it's harder work in the beginning but easier further out because I ALWAYS eat protein first because I understand the need to eat all my protein ...   nothing to fall back on if I hit the carbs!

Your protein shakes were high sugar and high carb? There's plenty out there that isn't. Mine (BSN brand) has 7g of total carbs and 3g of sugar.

I see you had surgery a month ago... you're hardly a failure and you are NOT NOT NOT the first person to not get stuff right at first. Failing is continuing to not lose weight, hopping up on your pity pot and not doing anything about it because you're so sure this just isn't gonna work for you. You went to a dietician and figured out the problem. YAY for you for doing that! You're a MONTH out. A MONTH. I mean, you've barely started. Give yourself a break (and then get back on track). You will be just fine. This is just a minor bump in the road, and there will be others to get over too. And you will. It's part of the process. You can get back on the plan and stick with it. Keep a food diary. Everything that goes in your mouth, write it down. Even a single bite. I don't care if you just took a taste of your child's ice cream cone or something. Write it down. You'll get used to this new life, I promise.

How does that scientific thing go? Thomas edison or some one like him was trying to get something to work and tried 1000 times and 1000 times it didn't work. Instead of being discouraged, he only thoought now I know 1000 things not to try because those ways wont work!

I am one of those people who only really learn things the hard way.

LOL. You and me both. I always want to try it MY way FIRST. Then if that doesn't work,  I have to surrender.

Allen,

“Negative results are just what I want. They’re just as valuable to me as positive results. I can never find the thing that does the job best until I find the ones that don’t."

Carmen, cut yourself some slack, then get back up on that horse.

It's hard at first sometimes. This is totally different from what most of us did before surgery. It's an adjustment.

You are not a failure.

I had surgery on 8/6 and I only lost 2 lbs the first two weeks. So, you've not lost that much time. You're right behind me. Come on girl, join me on the losers' bench. You'll be loosing big time before you know it. In six months it won't matter whether you had a slow first month. This is for the rest of your life.
