Dang. I thought I was smooth sailing with surgery scheduled on the 1st of Oct....and having my last doc appt yesterday. I got a call today that my labs that they did yesterday showed an elevated liver enzyme report. Now I have to have more labs done. Anyone experience this right before surgery? They have been fine up until now. I am worried they will postpone my surgery.

Had same problem. Found out it was just nonalcoholic fatty liver. Had to see specialist and they told me most morbidly obese people suffer from it. They did liver biopsy during my rny and everything was fine. I'm sure you will be fine too!

Thanks sooooo much for calming my nerves. I am still nervous- they want me to do more labs. I am thinking about waiting a day or so. I guess it wouldn't matter though. I am just a little freaked out- thinking it will prolong my date. I am ready to be on the losers bench.

Make sure that you are fasting when having this lab work done. At least 10 hours - more like 12 hours. Many people are unaware even a sip of coffee can throw labs off. If you are supposed to be fasting, you can have water only. Not flavored water, regular water only.

That makes total sense!! I did not fast yesterday, had 2 cups of coffee, and light breakfast before going in to the doc. I am hoping and praying that was it. I am not eating anything more tonight and will do the labs in the morning. I sure hope that is it. I want to be on the losers bench OCT. 1st
Thanks for the info.
