Feeling overwelmed already
I am just at the beginning of my journey. I had my chest xray and bloodwork done today. All the appointments are scheduled and lined up. I start my classes next week. But my head is spinning already. I had to get a day planner just to keep all the appointments straight for the next 3 months. I'm excited, but its all happening so quickly. Did you feel this way? My insurance only requires 3 months, so it just seems like this will fly by. Also, my doctor requires an endoscopy. Did you have one and what was it like. This will be my first experience with being put under and any type of surgery. TIA
Everyone seems to feel like that. it is normal. You will get your paperwork in your classes. Pay attention and ask them questions-it is what your Team is there for to help you.
3 months? Nice-mine requires 6 months plus a colonoscopy (which I had early this month) and an EGD (haven't had yet.). You will get your paperwork and it should have a list of things you will need to get done-including going to your Support classes there at your place.
I have been doing alot of reading as there are plenty of books on Weight Loss Surgery out there in regular book form and in ebook (Kindle and Nook)
Plus alot of online sites for info and online support.
You will be fine. Just follow your Team's instructions to the letter.

There are definitely a lot of appointments, but my 3 months seemed to drag by! LOL The endoscopy isn't bad. They didn't put me "under, under" but just gave me a sedative. They'll spray a numbing solution in your throat. I don't remember much of it. Just remember gagging a lot and then it was over. They told me my throat might be sore afterward, but it wasn't and I came out of the sedation fairly quickly. Could've driven myself home had they allowed it.

It WILL fly by, and it definitely IS overwhelming. I had several 'Calgon, take me away' days. I am only 2 days post op, but it seemed like everything came to a screeching halt after I was released home. But then a different phase kicks in trying to fit in all the meds and drinks...a much slower pace though. I'm figuring after a couple days to nail down some timelines, I will be able to breathe without having to tell myself to ;) I know it gets better. Hang in there and keep some Calgon on hand :)

I told them I thought I would freak out if I was awake at all so they made sure I was asleep through the whole thing. They give you a sedative through an IV. The procedure doesn't take long at all. You might have a sore throat when you wake up - I did one time but not the other.
