hi,
I also did not have a mandated pre-op diet but I made one up for myself. I figured it would help me get my head read for the new type of eating.
I lost 5kg and I have managed to shrink my stomach a little. So it's nice to get family and friends prepared that you will be eating te smallest portion and leaving food on your plate.
On Friday I only ate 4 spoons of a delicious dessert at the restaurant because I was so full. Yeah I know this is nothing like the little bits we will be eating soon but after years of clearing my plate it's a change I have to get used to.

I had a preop diet but the day before went out for lunch with my hubby and BFF. We had French martinis ( I miss those). Chick wings, hamburgers, onion rings and French fries. Lmao. It's so normal to have that last meal. Don't beat yourself up. Just follow what your surgeon says and enjoy you last fatty, fried sugary meal. The best part later is that once you cut that junk out of your diet you don't really miss it!
Congrats on your surgery decision!!!
Congrats on your surgery decision!!!
The only pre op diet I had was the day prior to surgery only liquids. my surgeon required I lose 5% of my excess weight prior to surgery so I would not have a fatty liver. I was able to do that no problem and my nutritionist said it was OK to have a few last meals but do not go overboard on them and I should be fine. I had great BBQ 2 days prior to surgery and had no problems with the procedure. Listed to the doctors and if the say you do not need a pre op diet they are the people who know what they are doing and you should listen to them.

Thank you all so much for responding, it's been very reassuring especially given several of you are people who's posts I follow.
Multimom I'm not sure what the colon cleanse is but I've seen it mentioned a few times and even not knowing what it is I'm glad I don't have that!!
