What can cause slow weight loss- (blood wise)
Most of you know my story.. Encrologist doctor to check my blood, I have now only lost 31 pounds in 10 weeks, I am staying on plan. Sticking to it. I even started increasing my calories as I was sugguested and started to gain weight and no longer loose. So I am confused.
I am ranging between 500-600 calories a day. Excerise 5X a day, and protein is around 50-60 grams a protein a day.
According to my doctor I am over weating by 3X.
Could it be my throid- anyone else have problems?
Anything else I should sugguest my primary doctor to check?
My surgeon can't help me
Had RNY on 8/8/2012- revision from Gastric sleeve in 12/2008-
LOST 5.8 POUNDS POST-OPT
You're losing at a rate of just under 15lbs a month which means you'll make goal in less than a year. After my RNY which wasn't a revision, I lost alot in the first month and then about 22lbs a month after that and I had 230lbs to lose, too. I'm not sure why they think it's so slow?
I don't have an answer to your question but, I do have some thoughts. My first thought is this... You are in this game for the long haul. For the rest of your life! You are a young, vibrant, beautiful woman. You are not in a race. So, having said that, as hard as this is going to be... You are going to have to change the way your head is dealing with what you see as slow weight loss. Have you ever lost 31 pounds in ten weeks before? That is no small feat! If you keep up this pace you will have lost sixty pounds in another ten weeks... That's pretty significant. I understand what it feels like to step on the scale and want to see a downward spiral but the reality is, it doesn't always happen like that.
You mentioned that you changed your calories and gained weight.. I'm sure there was a change on the scale but, the reality is this... It takes 3,500 calories to make a pound of fat. Since you are only consuming 500 calories a day there is NO WAY that you are gaining weight... Maybe retaining water.. Which can happen for a variety of reasons. Google " Starvation Mode" you will see just how far your body will go to stop you from losing weight.
Are you in a position to find a Registered Dietician? Preferably one associated with a different Bariatric Program? I feel like that might be helpful to you.
Please be kind to yourself .. Just avoid the scale. Focus on making your life healthier, the weight will come off..maybe it will be slower than you would like but it will happen.
My surgeon's nurse told me that revision patients will not lose wt as fast as first time WLS patients. I'd recommend a higher calorie intake. When you say exercise 5X per day--doing exact same thing or ? Mixing up your food choices and exercise can be helpful. DAVE

All in all, your doctor sounds like an ass, and you sound like you are doing perfectly fine.
My RNY was a revision also and I had my surgery on August 1st and am now down 45 lbs but I was in a stall for over 4 weeks losing and gaining the same four lbs. So when I called my nuturtionist she told me to get at least 68 g of protein in a day, not to eat more than one cup of food per meal and to drink lots of water. Take vitamins and continue to excercise 1x day for 30 mins. I had only lost about 29 lbs at that point and my nutritionis said I was right on target and not to worry....the weight would shed in time.
My stall gave out about a week and half ago but I did rely on homemade protein shakes and protein bars to make sure the protein got in. And boy or boy! After a week of that regimen the system got unclogged! Someone on the forum once said to never trust a fart! Well I wish I would have listened cause on my ride to work I sharted lol!!! You heard me! OMG how embarassing!
The good news is I lost 2 lbs in 10 minutes and have been losing steadily since. The trick is definitely the water, excercise and protein (still having problems getting it from food so using the powder and bars). Don't be so hard on yourself it will come around. But I understand when people are posting that they've lost 60lbs in 2 months...seems crazy doesn't it?
Anyhow take care and have a great weekend.
