I didnt sleep at all the night before and right before they put my iv in I was gonna walk out. I was terrified and I really dont know why. I have been in the medical profession for over 33 years and have taken care of people after various surgeries. Not to mention I have had over 15 of my own surgeries. For some reason this one scared me more than anything in my life. I wonder if maybe it is, as the other poster stated, a fear of losing the ability to eat what we want. Good luck and keep us posted.

You are not alone.  I start on my 4th week out Monday and I tell you what, I totally panicked beforehand....like so bad I felt like a crazy person.  The night before I didn't sleep at all and the morning of I was quiet the whole drive (2hrs away). When my doc came in to check on me before and asked how I was doing I said "REady to run right outta here"...he laughed.  Then I cried in the OR.   I have had several surgeries and this one bothered me the most.  I think it's because with other surgeries such as gallbladder, hysterctomy, etc., that 'thing' is or has been hurting you profusely. It's diseased and needs to come out and when it does you instantly feel better.  Well, obesity is a disease and while it won't make you feel instantly better, know what you're doing will eventually let you be able to feel better and be there as long as your kids need you to be.  I'm not gonna lie, this first month has been less than a party.  I had a freak out day about a week and half out...cried all day.  Since then, it's been better.  Good luck to you and I pray for peace of mind.
