Post Op Labs...Ahh-mazing!!
I had post op labs done by my PCP on a 3 week post op visit. The tech drew TONS of vials. Today and yesterday, I received partial reports of the results. Yesterday, it was blah, blah, blah...not much of anything noteworthyl. Today, however....WOW! My Lipid (fat/cholesterol) Panel was unbelievable. In the past, I've had readings that were too high to count, or dangerously high/low, so when I saw these values, I nearly dropped.
Triglycerides - 119
Cholesterol - 105
HDL - 30 (a little low)
LDL - 51
Cardiac
Risk Factor - 3.4 (0.00-500 is desired range)
I wish I could find the last results that I had done prior to surgery. I KNOW, though, that most, if not ALL of these values were way out of whack! My Cholesterol has not been under 200 (even with several medications) for years. My Triglycerides have, as long as I can remember, been dangerously high. THIS is enough motivation to keep me on track. I can only hope that this feeling goes on long after the honeymoon period.
On another note, I have had such a good food day!
I had an egg white omelet with spinach, feta cheese and tuna. Snack of protein drink. Lunch of shaved ham and feta cheese rolls and cooked carrots. Now having a Crystal Light lemonade/raspberry iced drink with a scoop of unflavored protein. For dinner, I'm making Shrimp Scampi...no carbs for me, but will make rice for my family.
I read several posts/blogs/websites about meal planning and I'm finding that it truly does help. Without planning, even premaking some things, I find myself just sorta grabbing whatever and not making good choices. Also, planning meals helps to keep up with amounts of protein and calories.
My teenaged daughter had the omelet, also. I made mine, was getting ready to pour her cereal and make her tea for breakfast and she said, "Last night, you were saying that we were having the tuna and spinach thingie?" I had NO idea that she'd want that. So, I made one for her and added a little vanilla protein shake to her tea. She LOVED it! One morning, I made some protein pancakes that really weren't very good...she tried, God love her...took a few bites and just couldn't eat anymore. She apologized. lol
By gosh, I'll make her a truly healthy eater, if it's the last thing I do! :) Actually, she is fit, active and I just want her to stay that way.
