Tips and tricks appreciated for liquid diet

First I want to say thank you beforehand for anyone that can give any helpful hints for a pre surgical liquid diet.

I am having laproscopic surgery on Nov 7 for multiple reasons - Incisional hernia, possible Hiatal hernia defect repair, adhesion cleanup, possible Y connection change (if the adhesions have damaged that area). My RNY was done open back in 2003 due to the possibility of adhesions of which there were and the surgery took 2 hours longer so I did not have to do a liquid diet except the day before.

With this surgery I need to do a 7 day protein liquid diet with my evening meal being a small amount of food (meat, salad or veggies). The day consists of 2 liquid protein meals,3 snacks of SF Jello, SF popsicles or a protein shake made with 2% milk). The day before surgery I am on only clear liquids with that being water flavored or plain, broths, Isopure or ProteinBlitz, SF popsicles or Jello etc.  I am totally on board with why I need to do this - to help shrink the liver. I have decided to go a couple steps further and start the liquids 3 days early as I do not want them to need to convert to an open procedure. They still might need to do that if the adhesions are real bad.

I am finally getting to my question - request. Do any of you have any tips, tricks, ideas for getting through the liquid diet? What worked for you? I do know about occupying my time with reading, crafts, house cleaning (I am sure I will have nesting syndrome next week) . . .

Thanks for your time.

Oh - PS I will be on the liquid protein diet for a week after the surgery and then to a minimum of 1 week of blended food after that. They will revisit food at my first PO appointment.

Thank you for responding.

Water or Crystal Light goes without saying.

For my doc's protocol the popsicles ARE the snack and not something I can have as much of as I want.

I am married to a RNY patient and he is going to go on part of the diet with me. I will cook the evening meal and he will eat what I can have.
