craving to eat chalk or smell chalky like items

I recently had the strangest cravings to smell baby powder laundry powder or fabric softner and wanting to eat chalk like items due to low calcium, iron. vitamine D i thought i was going crazy until i talked to my nut an she checked my blood work has anyone else had these issues

Did she talk to you about Pica?  Diagnosis

There is no single test that confirms pica. However, because pica can occur in people who have lower than normal nutrient levels and poor nutrition (malnutrition), the health care provider should test blood levels of iron and zinc. Hemoglobin can also be checked to test for anemia.

Yes, there was a program on TV, likely TLC or Discovery Channel that spoke about these issues. People were eating chalk, kitchen sink cleanser, toilet tissue, etc. DAVE

I seldom watch Dr. Oz, because I don't usually turn on the TV during the day but I turned it on one day to his show discussing Pica and all the things people were eating.

I just got my labs back, they say my iron and d are ok but still want them higher and I would eat tums like patato chips if I alowed myself to. Is that chalky enough for you ?
