How many carbs/fat people range...
Hello Everyone.. as you all know I have upped my calorie intake due to the fact I was only consuming 300 calories a day.. my weight loss is still steady loosing weight.. I haven't increased or decreased.
I put everything in my fitness and wanted to know how many carbs/and or fat people range for.
I know they say not to focus on that.. but I want to make sure I am not over stepping my bounderies.
I range from 500-700 calories a day.. once a while have a low day.. but try to at least consume 50 grams of protein and water and .. I excerise 5X a week and each day burn from 1000-1300 calories a day.
Thanks

You really need to concentrate on protein, and fluids. 50 grams a day is not enough. You MUST at a Minimum have 60 grams of Protein a day, more is better. If you don't get enough, you body will take it from it's own resources, one of which is your heart. For fluids, no less then 48 oz a day, more is better here too.
As an FYI, it is typical to see weight loss increase as you increase both of these items.

I usually say, ask you surgeon, but yours seems WAY off base. I suggest that If you have trouble getting enough protein try adding a protein shake (Whey Protein Isolate is best). If you make it with skim milk, that should up your calories. Since you're not getting very many now, I don't see it as an issue.
Because your plan sounds so crazy, I'll share mine from Johns Hopkins however, remember that many really good surgeons from Centers of Excellence vary in what they recommend. (FYI, I've read on this site that some plans do not consider counting fats or carbs)
Fats:
Choose foods with 5 grams or less of total fat per ounce, per serving or per 100 calories. Select cheeses with 5 grams or less of total fat per ounce.
Carbs at 9 weeks plus: 95 to 145 grams
I respectfully disagree with Sexycat on fluid intake. Minimum of 64 ounces a day of fluids is what you need. I can't believe that any plan would recommend 200-300 calories a day. Yikes!! That is scary!

On the front of the ASMBS Guidelines the name Margaret Furtado appears. My dietary plan was given to me by her since she is the dietician at Johns Hopkins where I had my surgery performed. Her affiliation with them is also noted as I pasted below. The 48oz is a minimum.

I have never watched fat intake post-surgery. Manufacturered low-fat/no-fat foods often contain more sugar and chemicals than most full-fat foods. I eat full-fat everything, cheese, milk, meat, etc...
But I watch carbs and sugar like a hawk. Probably 20-100 g a day depending on whether I am running/exercising or not. Also I aim for 80g protein a day. I am really bad at drinking though, I will admit... I never get enough fluids.

I am not a doctor, but I play one at work.
I've never worried about fat either - no fried foods etc, but I don't substitute low fat - I prefer to eat the real thing and if the fat is taken out, it has to be replaced by something (usually sugar) or it tastes like
Also, all carbs are not equal - if you are getting your carbs from good nutritious sources - beans, pulses, dairy and vegetables - it's not the same as eating doughnuts and bread!!!!
I do think you should be aiming for at least 80gms of protein per day (preferably from food) and believe me, you really do NOT have to worry about the carb and fat intake! This is an EXCELLENT life plan and that's something that everyone needs to consider if they are going to be successful long term!
