Home from hospital , leak sorted, infection getting the
Just a quick update, came home yesterday my pin ***** leak self healed in my four days NBM which was what my surgeon was hoping for- four days without being even allowed to brush my teeth absolutely nothing in!!
They had me on three types of antibiotics twice a day in there and sent me home with some, the bloods they ran to check the elevated levels of(?) came back much better than the morning I went o emergency.
my endoscope came back looking good there was some slight ulceration around the join but I was told that was to be expected given I was only 10 days out when they scoped
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Hope this is the last of your complications. Now on to better days!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
Thanks Hun!!
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, feeling good now, fingers crossed all my complications are done with and the losing can begin!
Chick zero it was the combination of symptoms that landed me back in hospital,I was cold and clammy but thought I was burning up, bordering on incoherent, confused, telling my husband something was wrong but I didn't know what it was and crying - the intermittent stabbing pains that were varying in severity on my left side I had put down to being only a week out we hadn't realised they came within half an hour of me sipping anything, because I had a resectional rny I thought that was why I was having slightly more pain. Thankfully it was only a pin***** sized leak because I think a leak any bigger Han that and you would know straight away.
lesson learned on being stoic I'm on orders to call my surgeon for everything now!
I was sleeved on 9-27 and they found a leak 15 days post op. I developed a fever that went from 99.9 to 102.5 in about 2 hours. Called and they had me come in for some IV fluids because I had been dehydrated as well. Once I was all hooked up my heart rate stayed 114-118 through two bags of fluid so they admitted me to the hospital and did a CT scan. My surgeon says it is a small leak and the "best kind" to have if at all but still.......been on TPN for almost 4 weeks now. PICC line infection which led to replacement line in other arm, and weekly upper GI scans. I am at the breaking point, I am so down right now and just want a sip of chicken broth or to take my meds but nothing by mouth for this long, I can't imagine another couple of months! Can you mix Tequilla in with TPN? LOL
My surgeon wants to let it heal on its own, initially I thought 2 weeks. Well now I see it will be much longer but according to him, as long as they see improvement (which can be as small as 1/2mm) each week we will continue down this path.
K9qt I'm so sorry your having to go through all that!!
i hope it heals up soon for you and you can get back on track soon.
Thanks Kim!
it wasn't all that hard once i realised the pain on my left side had all but stopped coming- pretty sure I had zombie breath though!!
