Calling all newbies starting this process...
Wow seems like some of you are moving quickly! My information session was a month ago and this process for my program is 4-6 months. I still have 6 weeks of lifestyle change classes to attend.. a psych eval Dec 28th and in between monthly weigh ins. After psych eval i will be able to meet with director which may take a couple weeks to get a appointment and then the surgeon hopefully that doesn't take too long.. then a surgery date so i am hoping for the middle of March 2013 THE LATEST. I already have all my pre-op testing done as far as i know well at least what they checked off on my list. Cannot do the psych eval until after the classes. They start in 4 days and my exercise appt is in 5 days plus i have my weigh in that day.. i only have 6ish more pounds to lose before meeting that 8% goal so i think i am moving quickly anyway. GL to all of us glad to see other people are going through this journey with me into next year. Also attending my 2 mandatory support groups on Nov 12th and Dec 10th so in between all the other appts because they are held only 1x a month
my info session was oct 11th almost month later i am getting a consult finally and i probably wont be done until Feb/march maybe even April with how slow it is going because the place im going to is a high rated place i am in. which is good but take for freaking ever and other than that i cant do anything because everyone had to put in referrals to my insurance so i can get each step done. ugh.. and since they have other paper work to fill out they don't file it for 2 weeks or so...and the referral to get approved is a week itself.. so it seems you are moving pretty fast to me lol
Hey all you fellow newbies! It's great to finally hear from so many that are basically in the same stage I am. I had my orientation class about a month ago, met my surgeon 3 weeks ago, met the NP and started my 3 month diet trial 2 weeks ago, and had my psych eval 1 week ago. That's when the breaks went on. She thought I had mild depression and wants me to see the psychologist to get clearance. This may set my surgery (RNY) back from late January to late February or early March. I an very excited about this journey to better health and would love to share it with all of you and be friends with any who want. Congrats and good luck to all of us on the beginning of healthier new life.
So good to hear from all of you.. seems like there will be lots of us around Feb/March going in for surgery. Exciting!! Anyone in the pre-op weight loss stage? Both my insurance and my program require 8% Weight loss i needed to lose 20lbs my last weigh in at the NUT appt was 330... so already -8lbs from the consult. I am going through a center of excellence as required by my insurance.
