trouble losing weight @ 4weeks out
I had surgery on 10/16/12 and am losing weight very slowly. I was 275 and I am now down to 265. I have only lost 10lbs. They said I can eat regular food but only protein and that is what I am doing. What am I doing wrong?
Iam having the same problem ( surgery 10/9/12) i was at 282 and im now at 267 and not going anywheer!!!! I was told to eat reg food but I have been doing half and half with the semi pureed soup still making sure I get my water and my protein in first but its so frustrating. im getting less then 700 calories in a day less then when I was on my optifast and I lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks on that .
I think our body is in the mode where t is storing fat and will take time to realize we are eating less.
Please list what quantities and what foods you are eating so we can offer specific advice.
Right off the bat, though, you were probably very bloated with fluids from surgery. It can take a bit for those to flush themselves out, and they can falsely inflate your weight.
I fight badgers with spoons.

I stalled initially after surgery for about a month, then it started to just come off...and would stall again later. It's quite normal. Just follow your plan and you'll see in a while that you'll start dropping the pounds. From what I've been told and read on this forum it's very normal for what your experiencing... Just hang in there!

been there/done that, and it'll eventually come together, I'm sure of it!
It turns out there are a number of us on here who are losing weight slowly; I know I am. My surgery was 9/13, and I've lost a total of 20 lbs. That's definitely a lot slower than I expected, but I'm finally getting resigned to this speed of loss (slow!) I'm losing, that's the bottom line. And, I'm trying as hard as I can to do everything I'm supposed to do. Not cheating at all - getting about 500 calories a day (which I know is probably too low), trying to get my protein and fluids, but struggling with getting enough of those. I just can't eat that much, and by the end of the day, I rarely meet my goals. My doc doesn't want me to drink protein shakes, he wants us to be getting all our protein from food by now, but the truth is, that ain't possible!!! Today I decided to add a protein shake anyway, but I'm sitting here right now, trying to gag it down, and having real trouble doing so.
My menus these days consist of pretty much all protein: beans, beans & more beans; chili with meat & beans; cottage cheese and yogurt, plus string cheese; tuna salad, eggs, peanut butter (with a few slices of apple), a few grapes here and there, and the occasional protein bar. Oh, and I sometimes have a grilled cheese sandwich made with one slice of whole wheat & grain bread.
Anyway, please don't be discouraged. We've had this surgery, and we don't really have any choice in terms of "Stop the train, I want to get off!" Keep on following your doctor's plan, keep coming to OH for lots of tips and support from peopled who've

I am right there with you baby! My sweet husband has lost more than me and HE DIDN'T HAVE THE #%$#$^ SURGERY!!!! Unreal!!! But you know what, I am losing weight, I am fitting in smaller and smaller clothes and for the first time in my life I am not hungry every second of every day. That is pretty heavenly. I went and got weighed the other day and was so discouraged, normally I would have stopped at every crummy food place I could think of and totally overeat on the way home. But I couldn't, that option is just not there for me right now, so even if I lose slow I feel like the surgery is this tool that keeps me from self sabotaging myself. hang in there. We can lose slowly together! Just as long as we are losing!!
