Revision: How easy is it to get insurance approval?
So, I was banded in October 2006, and didn't do so well. I told my doctor yesterday that i wanted to do a revision after giving my Band one last try. So now I'm waiting to see if my insurance will approve it. How long did it take for you to find out you were approved? I am so anxious right now, I can't wait to just get it on...BTW I have BCBS of Michigan...
Thanks.

I was banded in November 2006 and just had my revision October 29th. I decided in August 2012 to get the band out because it had slipped twice this year and it was going to require surgery o fix the 2nd slip. I had regained all of my weight while my band was empty this year - and my insurance approved my revision in September and it then I just had to wait one month for my surgery date. I think it went so quickly because of the current band problem that I had. But I don't really know for sure. I was just happy to get this wagon moving.
250 day of surgery
150 current weight
135 goal weight
My husband and I are both revisions...have the same insurance, same dr, went to the same drs for all of our appts...he got approved for revision in 4 days. I got approved for band removal but not the bypass...supposedly due to non-compliance. I am in the process of getting the band out and hoping to be resubmitted as bypass only since I qualify for it by itself...since the band will be a non-issue. We both have BCBS of NC - State employee plan.
Good luck with your process!
You can actually appeal if they deny the RNY. I am actually going to go ahead with getting the band out because I have had issues with my esophagus and I am hopefully going to be able to submit as a RNY only patient and get approved that way. I keep telling myself it will all work out...hoping!! :)
