Tingling feeling in butt and lower

I've never seen anyone ask a question like this so I hope someone has experienced this before or knows what this might be.

I'm 3 months post op (tomorrow) and ever since about 2 months post op and losing all of this weight I've had like a tingling or a lightning type feeling go down my legs and sometimes starts in my butt cheeks and go down to my legs.  Never to my feet.  It's not like a numbing tingling like it's asleep and it only lasts for that 1 second for it to run down my legs.  Kinda feels like circulation and doesn't ever hurt.

I'm hoping it's just my legs getting better circulation since my legs stayed swollen before surgery and that has completely vanished (NSV-yay).

3 months post op / 68 lbs. down since 2 week liquid diet / no other big problems other than still trying to get all protein in daily

I had a similar feeling to this when I was pregnant. I also experienced intermittenly the sensation of water running down the back of my legs. My doctor said it was my sciatica. I was on bedrest, so when I would get up, blood flow and less pressure on my sciatic nerve created the tingling, trickling, or numb sensations.

Do you sit a lot throughout the day? Are you getting regular exercise? I am not saying you are lazy, by any means. But as your body changes shape, you are likely to feel differences in nerve responses that may be more pronounced after having been in one position for an extended period of time.

it does sound like your sciatica nerve. Man I know how painful those can be. I only get relief by going to a Chiropractor when it comes on.  So sorry you are going through this.

I had something like that. It felt like my thighs were asleep and the tingling started and in a few minutes, it went away. I only felt it at night when I was resting. I have heard of other people having this sensation that have had bypass surgery. Not sure what it's from. My surgery was 9/11/12 and I felt it right away and throughout my 1st month. It's gone now.

The same exact thing happened to me last night. It quickly moved from my left butt down through my leg and it felt like my leg was asleep. It actually really freaked me out. I have restless leg syndrome and have problems all the time, but this was so completely different it threw me off. So glad you posted this. I exercise 3 times a week, so mine is most definitely not from lack of exercise! I like referring to it as my psychotic nerve! ;)

I have been having sciatica for some time and started physical therapy after months of working with chiro. Therapy worked on getting muscles balanced to make it possible to comfortably move around again. (My pain had gotten to a point that I couldn't stand for more than 5 min and walking was out of question. It started with tingling and transformed into much more.)

Amanda:  I do sit all day long at an office job.  And I do get this feeling when I have water mostly so that makes a lot of sense.  I’ll have to make sure I get more walking in during the day since I have a sit down job.  Thanks!

Thanks SoCaPinkLady, I’ve been thinking of going to the chiropractor, especially with all of this weight loss.

Breamos:  That’s so neat.  I thought I was alone on here too.  Love our dr.!

Thanks everyone for the posts, I feel better now after asking.

I have restless leg too so that could be it too.
