I had no problems at all. Have had other operations and this was the best. Went to sleep very fast. Woke up feeling great. No pain, no sickness. Never used my pain meds they gave me. I still have them here but am going to toss them out. My surgeons told me that in 14 years of doing WLS they had never ever lost anyone on the table so you are going to be fine. This is much safer and easier than other common operations like knee replacement that my wife has had on both knees. Don't worry about it, the hospital is the best place to be. There are many great people there who can help you out of any situation you get into and they have all seen it before. You will do great and be so glad you did it in 6 months. I sure am.

My RNY went off almost without a hitch.  The only discomfort I had in the hospital was because of my back; I just couldn't find a way to get comfortable in the bed, and so had a backache the whole time I was there.  I had to laugh when I was getting ready to leave:  discovered that in my efforts to get comfortable, I had six or seven pillows in bed with me!

At home, I had about 24 hours of nausea, and then some diarrhea, but with meds, both were cleared up very quickly.  I had very little pain, either.  I think I took one dose of the Rx for pain meds, and then just didn't need it anymore.

It's very normal to have some fears and anxiety before going into surgery, no matter what kind of surgery you're having.  You just have to educate yourself as much as possible about what's involved in this surgery, and then make the decision that's right for YOU!
