Black Friday shopping

My friend and I both worked in retail for years, and swore we would never do Black Friday. We actually had so much fun on the "other side" that we decided to brave it again this year. However, I COMPLETELY understand staying away from the craziness. LOL

I used to make cookies for Christmas presents, but now with my daughter, it's too difficult to work around an almost 21-month old. Maybe when she is a little older, I can go back to making cookies.

We used to make cookies and candies for Christmas gifts, too. My neighbor and I would exchange our plates of goodies.  Actually, this is the first time that it occurred to me that those will be coming this year!  Yikes!  Now, I have to mentally prepare for that...sigh.
Anyway, what we did to avoid having to make the cookies was to make cookie jars.  We'd fill Mason jars with the dry cookie ingredients, then attach a cute little printed card with instructions to make and bake the cookies.  Another year, we made soup in a jar...that was a big hit!  It was made with pasta, bouillon and other seasonings, along with the instruction card.  I'm thinking that's what we may do this year.

EEK no, but I applaud your fortitude! I make a point of working that day, when the office is blissfully quiet because 75% of the staff is gone. It's the best day of the year to work.

I do second Lora about buying ahead of time. It is so hard to predict how things will fit. Buy things that fit you now, so you will have the joy of wearing them until having to wait longer.

Happy bargain hunting and be sure to wear comfortable shoes. LOL

Yep we are going. I don't plan on going out at midnight to wait for stores to open and no specific store do I plan on going to. If I find anything great! Otherwise, the majority of Christmas gifts will be bought online and delivered to the house.

I will be at work on Black Friday. In the past I have ventured out if something catches my eye in the sale ads but I will not go wait in line, I go when I am up normally and awake and ready to face the mob of people.

I haven't found ANYTHING, even in the "doorbusters", that I would go out with the crazies for. I will sit right here in bed on my laptop and order free shipping items, and usually at as good or better prices.

Those crowds HORRIFY me!!

I will be braving the crowds as Black Friday is my absolute FAVORITE day to shop!  Something about the bargains and the energy gives me a high.  My family is convinced that Black Friday is my favorite "holiday" of the year!  I really don't need much this year as I am pretty much done already (and already started to wrap!).

Enjoy to all those who are braving the crowds on black Friday.  I HATE crowds and lineups, but I am still a little envious!  I live in Alberta, Canada about three hours north of Great Falls, Montana.  We went shopping to Great Falls last weekend and had a great time.  The stock was high and it wasn't horribly busy.  There were many deals to be had and both myself, hubby and kids came back home with about $500 worth of stuff.  I have coworkers making the trip down to Great Falls this Thursday to be able to partake in the deals on Friday.  They are diehards and have great processes to get everything they want in the short time they have.  Next year, I just may have to go with them.  :-)

I agree to be careful buying sizes ahead of time.  To this day my pants are usually a bit baggy in the bum because they have to fit my waist where all my extra skin is.  I also didn't lose as much in my calves so I have to watch certain cuts (skinny) because I may not get my legs into them even though they are the right size.  I am constantly trying on before I buy.  So beware of the different cuts and the fact that you might lose inches in different areas quicker or slower than others.  It's a gamble!

Anyways, have fun shopping!
