Stretches for mobility
Hello everyone! This is my first post, so please bear with me if I'm posting a question that has been answered already. I had Roux En Y WLS on Monday, November 19. I'm feeling pretty good, but I've found that when I stand, I sort of hunch forward, and pull my stomach muscles in as if I were doing a sit-up. If I force myself to relax those muscles, then my incisions hurt pretty badly. I looked online but was unable to find any help as far as stretches or light exercises for after surgery that will keep my muscles from tightening up like this. I have been walking for ten minutes at a time, and it seems to help my stomach muscles while I'm walking, but once I stop, and go back to regular short trips like to the bathroom or kitchen, the muscles are really tight and painful again. Any help or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
I think it's natural for our bodies to do that. The doc cut us a lot in there and those parts are trying to rearrange and find there place again. Also we have internal stitches that are prolly pulling down a little, not to mention the gas they filled us up with. It does go away in a few weeks or when they remove the jp tube(if you still have it). When your muscles get strong again they'll straighten up, they are angry from being cut so it takes a while to get them well. Congrats on the surgery and good luck.

Hi there! I had my surgery 11/20 and am running into the same thing. I've had luck with sitting in my recliner, leaning back enough that it keeps my stomach muscles stretched like they would be when I'm standing. I've found that once i stand up after sitting that way for a while, i dont have to hunch over as much.
