I had the RNY on Oct 16th and at first I had a pretty big appetite.  I could eat and never get sick.  Well now, If I eat to fast I throw it back up and I can only eat about 1/4 of a cup of food before I am full.  What just happened?  I am happy that I can eat less now but I can do without the sickness.

I found that I had the same trouble with eating to fast...and still do four months out.  I could be wrong but you are on more solid food now.  The denser the food I am eating, the less I need of it.  So, going from a liquid or soft diet to solids, you really don't need as much.

As for the sickness, SLOW DOWN.  And, I thought it was hokey at first but decided to try it...papaya enzyme is a miracle supplement.  It helps me digest foods and not have that sick feeling.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll have to try that.

I buy it at CVS drugstore and it is sold under the brand name "Radiance" for under $10.  Good luck to you!

Slow down! Some of the basics include smaller bites, chewing thoroughly, and eating slowly (I was told over 30 minutes). Also, a 1/4 cup of food is probably where you should be. Is this not what you wanted? I am not trying to be mean but it doesn't seem like you received enough information on the surgery. Reread some of the information you were given and see what amount you should be taking in and spread that out over the 30 minutes. I hope it gets better for you!

Thanks for the response.  You know, you can be given all the information in the world about wls in the beginning.  But it was nothing like actually going thru the process.  I must admit I did have to slow down when I eat.  I am happy about getting fuller quicker.  I am only a few weeks into this new pouch unlike the people who have had alot of experience in this thing.  So, I am still making the necessary adjustments.  Nothing but brighter days ahead.

Sounds like you are making the necessary changes to feel better. It is an adjustment period, just go slow and you will do fine!
