I Never Thought I Would Ask This But What Are Some Good Puree Meals?
I never had to do puree. My surgeon had a pretty liberal program. No pre-op diet, no prep before surgery and the diet afterwards was pretty easy. I was just told to chew very well and don't worry about putting things in the blender. I would read about others who had to puree and was grateful to have missed that experience.
Except now. I just had all my teeth extracted for dentures. It was a lot worse then I expected. For some reason I thought I would be able to eat soft foods for a while and then go back to a normal diet. Wrong. This hurts like hell even to drink. The lower denture isn't working at all so I am not wearing it now. I am going back to the dentist today but I don't know how it is ever going back in there, it is painful to even try. And even when it was in just touching them together brings great pain. Obviously I am not going to be chewing for a while.
I bought some sugar free pudding and I figured I would have that and protein shakes for a few days until I could eat again. Now I have to prepare myself for the long haul. Last night I had some mashed potatoes with pureed chicken. It was tolerable but I am going to need more variety. I thought I would be able to eat things like chili but now I realize that even soft things will have to be blended to practically liquid to get it down. I don't want to lose any weight and I already am down a bit just from one day of not eating much. What are some good options that won't make me want to jump off a cliff?

What about soups, pea soup you can thin out with water or milk and add cheese? Egg salad, tuna salad, shrimp salad could all be done very soft and easy. Refried beans with cheese and salsa, cottage cheese, yogurt ~ none of these would require much chewing.

ouch... hugs.
Some protein shakes and protein added to yogurt and to soups. On top of that - protein ice cream - that may be comfort food - cold enough to help limit the inflammation during recovery. Making many flavors. Make sure things are full fat - yogurt and milk, so you can get enough fat and proteins. Egg drop soup - is easy to make and easy to eat. Adding smooth PB or other nut butters may work also.
