I know there are lots of opinions about buffets. However, my thoughts are that it may be possible that you unintentionally over ate at the buffet. Buffets promote over eating in my opinion. Im sure others have differing opinions.

You're quite possibly right. I didn't think I ate all that much but with all the talking I quite possibly didn't pay as close attention as I should have done. I do much better when I eat alone, I think.

Thank you for replying to my post!

My family and I used to always eat at Buffett, but since surgery I have stayed clear of them.  Last weekend we were out of town and it was the first time we went back to a Buffet, I ordered off the menu (kids meal..lol) and saw what my family brought back from the Buffet and thought...Good lord..thats what I used to eat? It did not look tasty at all. My opionion...I will never go back to one again.  Even for my family I don't think Buffets are healthy food, or a healthy way to eat.

Looks like your pouch is trying to tell you something :)  Crabby pouches are a real Pain!

Crabby pouch indeed! I only went this time because I was made to feel guilty for refusing and I paid dearly. I'll think twice, or even three times, before trying that again!

Thank you for your input. It was invaluable!

I have had 4 years of hell from a slipped band that left me bullemic and still fat.  My husband likes the Chinese buffets and these will always be a part of our life.  I got sick of paying for food that I would end up throwing up, so this is what I did and will continue to do.

You can always get your buffet "to go" and then just eat what you want out of the styrofoam container.  Here, a buffet includes tea (although when I have the surgery, I will not be able to drink after, but can before) and soup.  I would actually overfill the container with better choices, i.e., shrimp, veggies, etc. and then while I was there, I would eat a large bowl of egg drop soup and a couple of items out of the box.  When I left, I had plenty of leftover stuff to share and also several meal for me.  The one he likes also has hard-boiled eggs and all sorts of stuff that are high in protein, so I will make my selection from those items, avoiding most of the "Oriental" food and still be able to enjoy a cup of soup and some shrimp or chicken and still have all sorts of ready-to-eat stuff in the frig for me for a couple of days.

A great idea! The buffet my family likes to go to is one of those All-American buffets and they don't honor my WLS card that says I should only be charged for a child's portion. I don't like to go there anymore but in this instance I allowed myself to by guilted into going. I hope I'm not forced to take a stand any more after what I went through. I don't like upsetting the family peace but if I have to I will!

Thanks for your input and suggestion!

Buffets are disgusting. Stay away. See many skinny people there?  There is a reason for that.

Surgery weight:  232 lbs. / Goal: 145 lbs. Height:  5'5"     Fat? Ain't nobody got time for that.
