Vitamins and Protein Drink
Why did they tell you not to take whole vitamins, and who told you that? Was it your doctor or other health care provider? If so, they should have also told you how to take them.
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery says it's fine for RNY folks to take whole vitamins, but maybe you have some other reason you shouldn't take them that way. If so, you can crush them, you can take liquid vitamins, you can take powdered vitamins (like Celebrate ENS and Upcal D), or you can take chewable vitamins.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

I prefer the Premier Protein, ready-to-drink shakes. In Canada we have only access to the chocolate ones. In the USA, you have vanilla and strawberry as well. They are sold at Costco and Sam's Club.
I will keep them in the refrigerator, and either drink it cold over ice or will also add it to a decaf coffee (no sugar or cream needed) or will blend ice and a frozen banana for a great smoothie.
As for the vitamins, when I was first post-op, they wanted us to crush, have liquid or have chewable vitamins if the pill was larger than an M&M. By 3 months post-op I found that my insides were healed and I started to swallow the pills (in half). Now I swallow the pills whole, even the big calcium ones. No issues. I hated any of the chewable multivitamins that I had tried (O`Purity, Centrum), even when I used applesauce or SF syrup to try and mask the taste.
Good luck!
I use the Premier Protein pre made drinks also. They have calcium and some vitamins included in them, I get them at Sam's club in a 12 pk. I use the celebrate ENS drink mix once a day and take a pill multivitamin once a day. I am 4 months out. I just started using the Celebrate ENS drink mix. I was always forgetting and not getting both my multivitamins in. The ENS drink mix has a full multivitamin and 500 mg of calcium. I also take daily a sublingual b-12, an iron chewable, a dry d3 5000 mg and a b complex all from bariatric advantage. I understand, it is overwhelming. I am still trying to get a routine that works for me to consume all that is required daily.
