weight gain?
I am 11 days out of surgery, and have lost about 17 pounds since last monday. Now I know the scale can be your worst enemy through this journey, I have read of plateaus, but for some reason I can't keep myself off of the scale. I weigh in every morning.
Here's my concern. I did notice yesterday I didn't lose any weight, but maintained and that was ok with me. But this morning I weighed in and I was 1 pd up. So I gained. Now, I know this can be anything. But sheesh. How frustrating is THAT?
Anyway, don't be harsh, I posted about plateaus before and got a bunch of negative responses. I'm just inquiring if any other scale obsessed users have experienced this?
I feel like if you are going to be obsessive about the scale you have to be prepared for days/weeks/months of no change or for gains sometimes...its normal. Don't consider it an actual gain unless it sticks around for AWHILE and even then it could be muscle...bottom line don't stress about 1lb at 11 days out from surgery. Keep working your plan and you'll be just fine.
I weigh daily...I accept that the scale can go up 3-5 pounds depending on the day and that I didnt gain fat..now if you get too psyched out about day to day fluctuations you should probably go to weighing less. If I weigh 2-3 pounds up consistently for a couple weeks I know that I may have gained a pound or two and adjust my habits accordingly but honestly in the first say 9 months...you are NOT gaining fat!!!! I am not saying that in a mean way either I mean that in a completely encouraging manner..dont get obsessed and beat yourself up..if you are following your plan YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GAIN WEIGHT THIS EARLY OUT...just because we had surgery doesnt mean we will lose daily it just doesnt work that way and we still have our normal water weight, bloating, fat days...those all still happen. You WILL GO days, weeks and eventually months without weight loss.
My initial plan was to weigh once a wee****il I reached goal. My wt would go up and down a couple of pounds and then drop a few pounds. So, I started weighing every two or three weeks. My body bounced up and down like that my entire wt loss process which has been 11 months now and I am at goal. My surgeon suggest that his patients weigh daily after reaching goal so one can adjust eating habits if necessary and not go over a 5 pound gain. So, I do weigh daily now.
