I think that in a bid family, using a mini fridge for your "diet" items is a good idea. I know things get eaten in my house sometimes before I get a chance to have it :) If you can keep it somewhere else, like a bedroom or office, like you said, that will be even better! Good luck :)

I actually have a mini fridge from when my brother was in college in my basement (not in use). I thought it would be a great idea at first but the more I thought about it the more I realized, for me, it wasn't. The only place it would go was in my room and I just felt it would make me lazy lol. Without it, I have to go downstairs and get whatever I need. Could you label your things? My mom and brother used to do that, I'd buy something, go in the fridge expecting it to be there the next day and it's gone. Drove me nuts. I don't think it's mean, but that's just my opinion. :P If you really are having trouble keeping things in the house that you need then it's probably a good investment.

I come from a big family and that mini fridge is the best investment you can make for you right now.  You can keep your lunchmeats, cheeses, cutup veggies,pre-mixed shakes, leftover restaurant meals and cold bottled water easy for you to get to and not tempt others when they open the big fridge out of boredom.

I converted a kitchen baker's rack with wine storage into my protein shake storage unit.  Cans and jars of protein powders went on the shelves and I used the wine storage for my collection of sugarfree syrups.  I did see a few disappointed faces when people bent down to examine my "wine collection" and saw bottle of DiVinci syrups.
