Skin infections anything to do with obesity?

I have a nasty background of skin infections never tested positive for MRSA that i know of but my 1st c-section incision opened i had cellulitis and it was infected i was on iv antibiotics in the hospital for a week after my 1st daughter was born had a wound vac to close incision. 2nd c-section minor incision infection. In the past few years tons of boils infected and lanced. In 2011 had my gallbladder out lap and my body rejected the dissolvable stitches and i had to have them manually removed.. otherwise my incisions all healed well. Well here we are 4 weeks out from my RNY which will be minimally invasive having robot and i have another boil on my inner thigh that was lanced yesterday. I am on keflex for another 7 days i did call my surgeons office to make them aware but they don't think this will be a problem especially since surgery isn't until March 5th. So does anyone know if frequent infections like these are due to my weight or just sensitive skin? I am hoping this boils especially go away post-op it's not fun having these things lanced!

Do you think this will impact my surgery date as long as i finish my antibiotics and this is all cleared up before surgery?

Have you ever been diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa? I have that and have some cellulitis issues and other skin problems. Mine has been good for the most part except I now have some issues with my excess skin on my belly.

No i haven't i seem to get at least one boil in the same spot all the time left inner thigh.. could be from the rubbing or folliculitis i don't know.. but i was told if they continue that i may need surgery to take out the gland in that area. I have 7 more days of the antibiotic they usually heal up rather quickly when opened so i think i should be okay.. still stinks though.

Look up HS just for ****s. I wouldn't be shocked if that's what you have too. A lot of docs aren't very familiar with it, I had to self diagnose myself and tell my docs what it was before they said it was what I had. I hope the keflex works, it should. I have used that when I have had issues and it seems to be a pretty strong antibiotic. Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh and to answer your question.. it might push your surgery out if the infection isn't gone after the antibiotics are done. Depends.

I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa, which sounds a lot like your boils that are infected and lanced. I was truly hoping that surgery would help... it didn't I had one lanced today. The dermatologist I go to who lanced it said there is no cure and I would still see them even after I'm done losing and maintaining, I was hoping though ugh!

I suggest you google Hidradenitis Suppurativa and see if it fits your "boils" and print it out and take it to your doctor to see if that is what it is. It took me several doctors to get a name to it.

I have a mole that needs to be biopsied on my back and the doc said today that I needed to wait 30 days ****il my keflex) is gone to get it done. So seeing as you are at the end of your Keflex run you should be fine.

I find when I wash with hibiclense they tend to be less frequent or pop without needing to be lanced. I used it religously the month preop just to be sure. I still had one under my breast at surgery time and it didn't stop the doctor from doing the surgery.
