RNY - 5 Years Later
Sorry Charleen, but when you start off with "You will" it stops being your own observations and then it is generalization. I don't agree with you saying that these things WILL happen when in most cases with proper compliance they will NOT happen.
You are welcome to do as you please against medical advice, but please do not make these generalizations from the experience of one.

It's Carleen. Not Charleen.
I am being medically supervised at the moment by 2 doctors whom I trust very much. You say I am generalizing, but aren't you doing the same thing? I have seen many people dump, I have seen many people feel unhappy at stages in their recovery. I do apologize if it seems that I say it will happen to everyone, but I just don't want anyone to be surprised if these things do occur.
These were my own personal observations, and I didn't expect it to become an open debate as mentioned earlier. If you don't agree, you are more than welcome to start your own topic, as I did.
(As for the earlier comments suggesting everything against Lap Band, I did not endorse it or even recommend it. I know people in my life personally that have had success, but I understand that it isn't received well here. I merely said 'do your research')

Congratulations. I am around 3 years out and as I recently left work, find I am home more and doing a bit of snacking. I am going to cleanse myself with the 5dpt next week to reset my stomach. I am about 15 lbs from a normal weight for my height, and as I have gained about 10 lbs of that since leaving work, I need to nip it in the bud NOW. I forgot about the caloric malabsorption stopping around this time and could not figure out why I am always hungry. I don't do most carbs but do occasionally indulge on low ca rb crackers (ie Kavli crackers and low fat cheddar cheese grilled).
If I remember from previous readings, the DS and the sleeve remove the remnant stomach, so anyone researching for information on a surgery might want to look into these. The RNY I have is great, but had I known, or been provided with information on the two (then newer) surgeries, I would have gone for one of those so there would be no more gherelin tempting me to eat more!
As the weather is getting better here, I need to be getting more motivated on the exercise plan...I used to bike daily while working but not so much now.....that is a real downfall and I am sure that is one of the main reasons I have gained. Curves...here I come!!
I enjoy doing the 5-day pouch test too. Sometimes I do a 'mini-test' with water. When I first wake up in the morning, I drink water from my bottle and find I can only sip the same amount at once before I know enough is enough.
Gherelin is a gremlin, haha. There are times when my body goes haywire for snacks too. I have tried low-carb things, but they just trigger me to eat more!
At least we are aware of these problems and want to get on them! I wish you the best too!
