I'm 60 and 5'3".  My highest weight was 222, and I had RNY on December 20, 2012.  I am down to 177, on my way to 150.  My reason for surgery was type 2 diabetes more than weight loss.  I used to be on 2 insulins and am down to just one, once a day.  I hope to be done with insulin for good once I lose a bit more weight.  Sorry, but I don't have any pictures right now.  I am surprised that I don't have more saggy skin - the only real issue I have skin-wise is (as my hubby says) my pleated butt.

Good luck to all of us on our journeys!

Hi SamanthaJo!

I am 65 and 5'3" and weigh 225 pounds.  I have not had surgery yet, that is scheduled for Feb. 25th.  I am having the surgery because my blood pressure stays out of control and also, have some sleep apnea.  My knees give me a fit because of the extra weight too.  I thought I might be too old to do this, but my Dr. says I will do fine.  I have 3 great grandchildren and I am hoping to get healthier to see them graduate.  Because I will have to take my vitamins and get my protein in (I do neither now) I am sure I will be a healthier person.  Some say the "light weights" don't lose the weight as fast, but I think it is just how your body will react.  I have studied this and am totally committed to following the plan to the "T".
