I hate meat
I am really starting to hate meat. I do okay with deli slices, but lately meat in general has not been sitting well with me. It is driving me mad because I find on those days, I really struggle to get in my protein and not have to have a shake (as my doc/nut wants me to try to wean off of them). Frustrating to say the least.

Lori, what meats are you eating? Is it every type of dense protein? What about tuna or other fish, shrimp, crab, ground beef? How much are you eating, it may be more than your pouch can handle at one time.
Can you focus on eating other sources of protein? Cottage cheese, cheese, eggs, yogurt, beans?

I've been eating chicken (baked and then cooked soft), ground beef, pork tenderloin, shrimp and deli slices of corned beef this week. I don't like tuna...unless it has gobs of mayo which is out ;) Ground beef does okay and the deli slices are good, but with everything else I barely get in a few bites and it just sits like a rock. I am chewing chewing chewing to applesauce consistency. I try with the meats and then end up with a little dish of cottage cheese and I do eat cheese a lot. Scrambled eggs don't like me, but I have been having hard boiled eggs. I might have to try some beans this week. I haven't been crazy about yogurt lately either. It just drives me crazy because I have never been picky lol

Do the tuna with light mayo if you can, add boiled eggs to boost the protein. I really do understand the meat thing, early out one baked chicken leg made 3 meals, lol. How about trying chicken salad too. I don'****ch my fat content (never have) so I didn't worry about mayo and the fat content didn't affect me.
I also found the dark chicken meat was much easier to eat. I was probably 6-7 months out before I could eat white meat. I also did and most times now do better cooking meat in the crock pot. Hang in there it gets easier.

I will try the tuna thing and I didn't even think about chicken salad - that's a great idea! I usually add nuts and grapes to mine :) Thank you!

Try some beans. I eat tons of beans. Want some recipes?

Kelly, I love the bean recpie you emailed me a while back and I tweak it with different seasonings and make huge amounts and freeze it. I'd love other recipes using beans sometime! If you could email them or send me a link that would be awesome. Otherwise I will google search. Thanks for sharing the bean recipe that you sent me. My daughter and BF love it as do I!
Which bean recipe did I give you? The Island Red Beans? I love that. I haven't made it for a while, and it's so easy. I need to make it sometime soon!

The recipe I believe I have from you is the one that uses 4 cans of kidney beans, garlic, habanera peppers, cilantro, tomato sauce, and oregano. I sometimes use lentils and black beans and have added cooked rice and ground beef. I mix it up so it's different every time. I love it and it makes a lot and freezes well. I am making some this weekend!
Yeah, that's the one. You can add any diced veggies you like to it, too.
