Lightweight Question
Okay, I know there is a light weight forum here on OH but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I am a light weight if I am expected to lose less weight than someone who is higher in weight than I am? I weigh 240lbs right now, And I will weigh 230 or below by the time I have surgery since I have to go on the 2 week liquid diet. I was wondering if anyone has started at my weight (I am 5'4) and what you lost and any advice you can give me. I know it depends on every single person individually, but I am just curious.
Thanks

I started at 225...I was 205 on the day of surgery. I am seven months out and this morning I weighed 149.5. So I am down 75 lbs. I don't know how much I'll lose but I'd like to get down to 130 or even 125 if I can. I think the advice is the same whether you are a lightweight or not....follow your doctor's plan, make good changes that will stay with you once you get out of the heaviest restriction period. 3 months ago I could only eat 1/2 a cup of food at a time and I wasn't always able to eat whatever, now I can eat upwards of a cup and everything settles fine. The more you CAN eat, the more you will have to make good choices.
Thank you for replying. I don't think I am as "light weight" as some others But I guess I will lose how much I set my mind to losing right? Congrats on your loss! I can't wait to see onederland!!! :)
Well, sure, if you weigh less to start off with, you'll lose fewer pounds than someone that starts off at a higher weight. For instance, I started out at 270 and I lost about 150 lbs. But someone that starts out at 400 lbs might lose 250 lbs. Of course, I couldn't lose 250 lbs - I'd only weigh 20 lbs then!

My high weight was 240 and my revision weight was 220. I lost all my excess weight and then some. Check out the lightweight forum. It seems that a lot of us do manage to reach our goal and usually fairly quickly. I reached my first goal, a normal BMI at about 6 1/2 months out and my final goal at 10 1/2 months out and kept losing. The numbers may be lower but the percentages are about the same as far as rate of weight loss of lightweights vs those who start out at higher BMIs.

I am only 2 weeks out so I'm probably not much help. I started at 210 (at the beg. of February) and am now at 190, so I've lost 20 pounds so far. I hope to get to 130, so that would be an 80 pound loss.
Good luck!
