Anything happen in your hospital stay you wish you knew about?

I woke up to sexual harassment from the nurses, clueless staff, and fellow patients faking symptoms to get more drugs.  I would rather have had to shimmy onto another bed, honestly.

You'll be fine! GL this morning.

I dumped in the hospital because the nursing staff was giving me the wrong nutrition.  This caused me to stay in the hospital for a week rather than the 3 days that I expected.

I didn't have to walk form the OR bed to the regular bed. In fact, my hospital staff totally dropped the ball and did not ask me to walk at all which is dangerous after surgery. My surgeon was not pleased. Had my pastor not made me get up and walk on day 2 I was perfectly content to lay there (squeezy leg things and all!).

Um what else. What's that breathing thing called? Spirometer? Is that it. That thing HURT! Every time I had to breathe in it, it felt like my incisions were going to bust open. Yowza!

And the gas. Yes, the gas...they pumped me full of the stuff and I felt it!

Other than that, my surgery reaffirmed a suspicion I could not otherwise prove. I do not come out of anesthesia well. Up to then I'd only had it for my births and the epidurals always took FOREVER to wear off. Same with general anesthesia. My surgery was early in the a.m. I did not fully awaken from surgery until LATE that night. I was told I had a rash of visitors. That must have been...awkward.

RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!

Take a tank top with you. I wore a tank top next to my skin with the binder over it... No chaffing:)

Carpe Diem:)
