A repost on stalls or plateaus...

I saw what you posted...And was going to let it slide without a response.  We need to be supportive on these forums and guide new people in the right direction.  I've been chewing on this for a few hours and wish to say my peace.  It is hard to believe that someone who exercises regularly, stays at about 1000 calories a day (mostly protein and vegetables) would not loose weight.  Did you go back to carbs? and how much?  I believe you concerning your exercise and watching your food intake.  Just wondering if you counted your calories and carbs?

My feeling is it's nearly impossible not to lose if you follow the plan strictly.  You may be the exception and I understand and feel for you if that is the case.  I've regained 40 pounds since hitting my goal over 6 years ago...But it was by the food choices I made, not from the failure of the plan.  Brian

I think I am as supportive as anyone.

I wish I had known that for a minority, RNY does not result in weight loss. I guess I would have had it anyway, and believed I would not be in that minority. I am not being Captain Bringdown, I'm telling a truth. If this forum is only for a filtered, partial truth, folks needing and considering WLS are not being well served and can not make informed decisions.

As for carbs and and calories, after stalling for a couple of months I started counting. As I said, I stayed on plan. My body does not want to lose weight. That's not to say there is no way under the sun to force it to lose weight; I just haven't found it yet. For me, the way was not RNY or a low-calorie, low-carb diet. Gender, hormones, age, and other factors affect weight loss.

I am on the WLS journey, but am not on the autobahn lots of others are flying down. This forum is for people who are having an easy time and for those having a tough time. I'm allowed to tell the truth. All you who are losing easily, I'm glad for you. I like seeing your posts. I'm looking for a solution.

cabin111, I get the feeling you think I am a heretic or a liar and don't belong in your happy success club.

If you ever feel like it was not worth it, its a self indication that professional help is needed. Getting back on track is key, but so is talking to someone like a counselor about the derailment. You can do it!

The psychologist at my bariatric center said stay on plan. The dietician said stay on plan. The surgeon said stay on plan.

Since I was staying on plan, and none of them had any additional advice, I guess the answer is to stay on plan, even if it doesn't work.
