Well tomorrow is my surgery day. Super excited but also super nervous! I am down 27 pounds on my preop liquid diet and am so ready to move on to the next stage. So I am packing my bag and am wondering what i should take. Definitely don't want to forget anything important. I have packed the basics like, pajamas/clothes, bath stuff, toiletries etc.. anyone have suggestions for things I will need and do not want to forget??

Chapstick is a must! Lips are so dry after surgery!!! Also your phone charger, and slippers! For home you mAy want to pick up a raised toilet seat at a pharmacy, it was a relief from having to sit so low! Gas-x strips, and a heating pad! I am almost 6 weeks post-opt. I will keep you in my prayers and if you ever need to talk, or have questions, I would be glad to help! God Bless!

I agree on Chapstick!! May want to take some extra panties/pads just in case you get your cycle. I know one thing for sure is I had a bad experience and my lap quilt I took disappeared while I was in icu. So just be cautious with what you take.

Best of luck to you!!

I never opened my bag.  The hospital provided everything and the only thing I suggest is wear something extremely lose going home.  I wore a zip up-hoodie bathrobe home because no way could I put a bra on or anything around my waist.  But that was me.

Chapstick is a must, even though they provided me with swabs for my mouth and lips.  Good luck!  Jane

Ear buds or headphones. I had a very loud roommate and they were a blessing to get some sleep. Don't take much, you won't need it. But agree with others. Chap stick and gas x strips and your phone charger. The longest one you have since most of the plug ins are behind the bed.

My lips were so dry and crusty that I needed vaseline. Chapstick didn't cut it. I also had a light robe so i could cover my backside when walking around. I like to also bring my own handsoap and barsoap. You may want to bring a pillow or blanket from home. That just makes me feel comfier. I totally agree about the pads. I started my cycle 1 week early and the hospital only had the.old school belted kind!

Sending prayers!

Earbuds and chapstick.  Also since I stopped my hormone replacement and I am (was) prone to hot flashes I had my husband bring a fan. I was put in a room with another patient who had visitors constantly and all I wanted to do was sleep,   Chapstick is a must!!!

My husband brought a fan as well! What a lifesaver that was! I was lucky enough not to have roommates, but the noise in the hospital itself could justify earplugs.

A robe for walking around and a smart phone if you have one to pass the time
