Hair loss...

My hair has started to come out, usually in the shower and sometimes when brushing, at just about 6 months after surgery. I'm hoping to get a cute little cut and maybe go a bit lighter to kind of mask the thinning.  BUT...the one gripe that I have is...
Why, oh why is it ONLY the hair on my head!?!  My chin hair and mustache are growing just fine!
BTW, my surgeon recommended that I up my protein and start taking some Zinc to help with the loss.  After reading about the hairloss with WLS, I'm just going to roll with it.

Oh, Lordie, did I crack up.  Not at you but with you.  I never noticed my hair loss as I wear wigs and I keep my own hair super short, but the mustache I have dealt with since I was so LUCKY to have one since I was like 13.  Sigh.......Chin hairs, oh my.   I keep my tweezers handy like they were gold!  I was at the dentist a few weeks ago and the gave me the mirror to see my teeth and how they looked and holy guacamole!  You know the light they use above the chair?  THE BEST light that shows up every single chin hair and I was mortified and said OMG! I am so diligent keeping my facial hair off my face and I could not believe what I had missed.  I am 60 so the chin hairs were never a problem until I went through menopause and it's bad enough my boobs are down to my ankles but now I get to deal with this.  Oh well, life could be worse. We could be growing a mustache AND a beard......indecision

P.S. No *****ken at anyone with facial hair that is more than they bargained for.

Menopause is a ***** on the body. Peach fuzz on the face and dry, scaley skin that wasn't there before. I should buy stock in baby oil and lotion.

I keep reminding myself it's better than the monthly period though.

I'm 52, but I've been in menopause since a total hysterectomy 14 (?) years ago.  Up until the RNY, I had constant hot flashes.  Now, I'm cold a good part of the time with no flashes...praying that they stay away!  I was hoping that with the hairloss from my RNY that I'd lose some of the facial hair, too.  No such luck! :(  I usually shave the chin hair, occasionally shaving the mustache.
Sometimes, I look at myself with my glasses on and it's like you say about the lighting at the dentist office...shocking.

Haha your mention of facial hair cracked me up. I get the mustache hair waxed off. I don't have chin hair or I'd wax it too.

Since my hysterectomy I have white peach fuzz hair on my cheeks and jaw line. I use an electric razor to remove it. Ugh hate the hormone changes.

Just an aside to all the hair stuff since I too, being of Spanish and Italian descent have more than my share of the mustache and all but did y'all know that Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe shaved their entire faces daily?  Well, they had someone to do it for them.  Wow.

good for a laugh and for feeling normal.. thanks!

Didn't know that.
My older sister has more hair on her face than I do...well, so far.  But, we have made a promise to each other to shave, or pluck, or both, each other's face when either one of us is in a nursing home, or for whatever reason that we can't do it for ourselves.
