People were not kidding when they say your taste buds may change after WLS!!! Protein shakes I liked or could tolerate before I ca't stand now. I think it also has to do with I am so sick of drinking these things. ughhhh. I know I may have to forever drink protein shakes just to be able to get a good amount of protein in, but I will be excited to add other varieties of protein. Thank God I get to see my surgeon on wednesday and I see my nutritionist on the 16th of this month. I could only drink protein, liquids, soupy mashed potatoes, creamed soups, and yogurt no chunks. I have to wait 3 weeks post op to start the pureed/soft  stage.

I had to keep trying until I found one that satisfied my tastes at that time, as it changes as the course goes. Keep trying---your body needs the protein.

Hang in there...it gets better!!  Many of us get in all of our protein without shakes.  It just takes a while to build up to that point.  The lack of variety on the liquid and mushy phase can be a little depressing, but then comes the soft food phase and you start to experiment, and it can be fun (an sickening at times haha).  Keep up the good work.  Better days are ahead :)

I hear ya! I'm happy I can have chili now . The shakes make me feel nauseated! You will soon be able to eat different things, hang in there!

I am singing those blues along with you. I am one week post op and I am so sick of protein shakes. I too was able to tolerate them before surgery and now they are too too sweet for me.  Week 3 will be a day of celebration!
