I HAVE to kick my pop habit
I have got to stop myself from drinking pop. My hubs loves Pepsi and sometimes I take a sip here, a sip there. Then I'll have a few ounces...until now I drink about 4-6 ounces of regular pop about 2-3 times per week. Anyone else struggle with this impulse/craving? I feel like this will contribute to be not losing my last 15-20 pounds.
If it helps.... When I was in the hospital (I had some post op complications) I told the nurse I just had gastric bypass surgery and she told me she had it as well a few years ago and lost a ton of weight (I can't remember how much) but then she started drinking pop again and gained it all back! She told me that now she was having problems again with her knees, etc.... So she stressed not falling back into that trap. I'm not sure that's helpful but it did give me pause to think, man I wouldn't want to go through all this to just gain it all back for a dumb drink! Maybe you could encourage your husband to quit the pop thing too. That would make it easier for you.
I think soda is a big trigger for me and I avoid it like the plague. I've had a sip or two of my hubby's diet soda and it still tastes nasty. Not to mention the adverse affects of the artificial sweetener. I'd like to do the flavored fizzy waters like LaCroix but I'm too nervous so I stick to water or tea. There are times when I swear the Coke can is calling my name.
I agree it is a big trigger for a lot of people. From personal observation, my weight loss surgery friends in real life who drink a lot of soda are the ones who never got to goal or have had serious regain. I also avoid it like the plague.

I was a huge soda addict. It was not fun giving it up, but I did over two years ago and it doesn't even taste good to me anymore so I'm not tempted. It is truly horrible for you. Its a can of sugar (or fake sugar) and chemicals....chemicals that eat away paint and rust, tenderize meat (what will it do to your stomach?), and they are finding a good deal of other correlations between illness and soda consumption. The more I've learned, the easier it was for me to just stay away from it.
