Hi, everybody!

My name is Angie and I found out today that I'm going to have bypass surgery. I was supposed to get a sleeve, but the surgeons said that would make my reflux worse. And that would be a problem.....

So, here I am, looking forward to getting used to the idea of RNY!

My Surgeon liked the sleeve best but also said that it was not a fit for me due to acid reflux. I do not regret the RNY. I have not had to take my Reflux Meds since one month out of surgery!!!

Thanks, Lori! I'm just a little afraid of all the surgery. There's a lot of cutting and pasting happening here. But there are plenty folks out there who have this surgery and are not dead!

Welcome Angie!  For what it's worth, let your surgeon worry about the cutting and pasting part - your job is to try to control the rest of the things that you can!  :)  I hear you that it takes some getting used to.  I had a lapband myself in 2003, partly because I was afraid of the bypass at the time.  You can see how well that worked out for me... RNY going MUCH better so far.  Any idea when your surgery date is?

Hi, Tiggy, and thanks! It'll be in June sometime --- I've got some traveling I need to do during May. Having decided to do it, I hate putting it off. Oh well, I'm lucky to be able to do this at all, so....I need to qvit my qvetching.
